Events

Socializing and networking is an important part of grad school, not only to maintain your mental health but also for professional development. This page lists a number of our upcoming events, as well as information about our recurring social events where you can meet colleagues within the department.

To see our upcoming departmental speakers:

Recurring Socials:

Coffee Club

IMPORTANT: COFFEE CLUB IS BACK! Keep an eye on your email and our socials for the next meeting.

A biweekly event where students can come to the Keith Fagnou reading room, grab some snacks and coffee, and take a break from being in the hood!

Summer BBQs

IMPORTANT: BBQs ARE BACK!

Our summer BBQs are held by the labs. Each lab has an opportunity to host the biweekly BBQ as the grill-masters. Come out to get some cheap lunch and enjoy the sun!

Mixers

IMPORTANT: MIXERS ARE BACK!

Mixers are held once at the start of each semester, allowing students to get together off campus and socialize. Typically, the CBGSA hosts apps and drinks at a local restaurant. These events are a great way for new students to get to know fellow colleagues!

Upcoming Events:

This calendar will be updated with upcoming events within the department. Expect it to contain information on seminars, guest speakers, workshops, and more! Any further details about events will be posted below the calendar. We will also update this calendar with external events (usually smaller, lesser known events) in the chemistry community that you may be interested in. If there are events we are missing that you would like to highlight, please let us know!

BGSA EDI Book Club - 11AM Every Thursday (Summer 2022)
Weekly meetings will be held to discuss the book a few chapters at a time. All are welcome! Please email Leah at lmcmu087@uottawa.ca for more information or checkout our webpage.
